A belt is all you need to elevate your skirt, dress or pants look

The humble belt isn't so humble anymore. Fashionable girls and celebrities know how to catch the eye with their fashion, but they also know how to set trends, or revives ones that has been forgotten. Such is the case with Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski and Rita Ora, who have each in their own way revived a key accessory of the 2000s: statement belts.

Boldness is one of her strengths.

Bella Hadid knows how to attract attention with every appearance. But this time, it wasn't the leather aviator jacket, the retro-influenced sweater or the baggy jacket she was wearing that caught our eye during her latest outing in New York, but the two belts she was wearing around her waist. While the first belt was tucked into the loops of her pants, the other was worn sloppily around her waist. For Bella Hadid, the belt has gone beyond functionality to become an ornamental accessory, much like those worn in the 2000s. Back then, very large belts were worn to elevate a dress or any other outfit. As the Y2K craze continues to gain ground, will Bella Hadid revive the trend? She's off to a good start!

After playing with sheer fabrics, Rita Ora has gone for the Y2K trend. In the streets of London, the singer was seen in a look composed entirely of pieces that could very well have time-travelled from the 2000s. She opted for a cropped T-shirt paired with a cropped cardigan, big hoop earrings, a candy-pink micro-bag embellished with sequins, and a large leather jacket. But the ultimate statement piece was her long denim skirt, a key trend of the moment, which she embellished with a nonchalantly placed XXL belt, transforming it, like Bella Hadid, into an ornamental accessory.

Emily Ratajkowski also opted for a belt to upgrade her entire outfit. On the streets of New York, the 32-year-old supermodel was spotted walking her dog. She raises the bar when it comes to style with every appearance, and this one is no exception, as the young model opted for the Aexae label's foolproof little black dress, enhanced by a Western-style belt with a gold buckle, worn just above the hips. The perfect way to embrace the typical 2000s accessory! She paired it with a pair of boots (her current obsession), and a black handbag.
